Maryna Illyashenko

Introductory II

Maryna’s yoga journey began many years ago when she was a student at the Academy of Art Kiev, Ukraine, exploring yoga philosophy and eastern traditions. Her main focus was on Karma Yoga, “As you sow, so shall you reap “. Maryna moved to Toronto in 2000. Since then she has experienced several different styles of yoga, but the depth of Iyengar Yoga traditions led her to pursue this method.  She continues to be inspired by B.K.S. Iyengar’s unique investigation of alignment and it’s therapeutic effect not only on the physical body but also the subtle impact of the various practices on the consciousness. Maryna has been teaching Iyengar Yoga since 2009.  In 2010 she began apprenticing in therapeutic classes at Yoga Centre Toronto under the direction of the Senior Teacher, Marlene Mawhinney. She continues  to dedicate much of her time to these classes. Maryna has two passions in life – yoga and family. She enjoys gardening and reading scriptures in her leisure time. As a teacher her goal is to promote health and well-being.
