Founded in 1972, Yoga Centre Toronto promotes active living and well-being through the teaching and practice of Iyengar Yoga. This style of yoga is for everyone – all body types, ages, and levels of fitness and mobility. Our students come from all walks of life, ranging in ages from 8 to 85.

Yoga Centre Toronto, an Ontario Not-for-Profit Charitable Organization, is the largest Therapeutic Yoga Centre in Canada and conducts 9 Therapeutic/Specialized classes per week. Yoga Centre Toronto also provides yoga classes and workshops to the community at large.

With respect to our students, we provide a bursary to students in need, specifically to students suffering from health issues that preclude them from working. Some examples of the therapeutic classes that we offer include Cardiac Class, Special Needs, Special Practices, Yoga for Seniors/MS and Back Care. Our bursary funds of $50,000 are raised annually from the generosity of our yoga students through an annual “Access to Yoga Fundraising” campaign. No student in need is denied a bursary.

In addition to being a not-for-profit Charitable Organization, Yoga Centre Toronto’s Iyengar Yoga Teacher Training Program, is recognized by the Ontario Ministry of Training Colleges and Universities, training yoga teachers in a comprehensive three year Internationally recognized teaching Iyengar teacher training program.

Unfortunately, last year, we were informed that the premises that we had rented in good standing for over forty years, are being torn down for a condominium development. As a result of this displacement, we have relocated in order to continue our not-for-profit activities.

Building the Future Campaign

In order to provide the same quality of services at the new location, Yoga Centre Toronto needs to raise at least $200,000 for the building fund. Any donations received will be eligible to receive a tax-receipt.

If you would like to contribute to the “BUILDING THE FUTURE” Campaign, please call us at 416-482-1334 to donate or ask about e-transfer.

Access to Yoga Fund

We now are offering 10 therapeutic classes a week!

Yoga Centre Toronto has been a designated a Not-for Profit Charitable Organization since 1972. Based on this status, twenty-one years ago Yoga Centre Toronto’s Board of Directors, under our not-for-profit charitable status, established the Access to Yoga Fund.

YCT initiates an annual fund-raising campaign which allows us to award a limited number of bursaries on an individual, as-need basis.

Thanks to the generosity of our community, over the last year we were able to award bursaries for classes in the value of $54,084.75. Many of the students in our specialized classes are living compromised lives due to their conditions. Without the Access to Yoga Fund, these students would not have access to the therapeutic teaching of BKS Iyengar.

A formal application procedure is required regarding these bursaries. Please ask the front desk staff for more information. Our work in this area integrates the philosophy, science and art of Iyengar Yoga.
